  1. INAUGURAL CONFERENCE "A NEW APPROACH FOR A SUSTAINABLE BLUE ECONOMY"

In May 2021, the European Commission published a communication for an economy

sustainable blue. The communication has defined a new approach, which integrates

fully the blue economy in the Green Deal and in the European recovery strategy and represents

the Commission's vision for a blue economy that is sustainable, green,

resilient and circular and that contributes to the mitigation of climate change. The

new approach provides coherence between sectors of the blue economy, facilitates their coexistence

and seeks synergies in the maritime space, without harming the environment. Points out

also the need for investment in research, skills and innovation. There

conference provides an opportunity to discuss the importance of a sustainable blue economy

to provide climate-resilient, healthy and productive oceans and seas in Europe. Also, it will highlight

how such an approach is essential to achieve the goals of the Green Deal

and how it complements other recent Commission initiatives on biodiversity, food,

knowledge and more, ensuring a green and inclusive recovery from the pandemic. In such

occasion we will explore and debate the importance and environmental, social and benefits

of a sustainable blue economy, as well as the necessary support in this regard.

This conference is also an opportunity to provide a platform for discussion

on the prospects of the blue economy and how we can exploit the opportunities offered

from this inevitable transformation of our society. The discussions will concentrate

in:

  1. The European Green Deal and the new approach for a Sustainable Blue Economy;

  1. CONFERENCE “PNRR - Restoration and protection of the seabed and marine habitats for an economy

sustainable blue "

To address the climate crisis and the biodiversity crisis, seas are needed in

health and sustainable use of their resources. For the transition to a blue economy

sustainable it is necessary to invest in innovative technologies, improve the management of

maritime space and restore marine ecosystems. The EU Biodiversity Strategy

2030 aims to protect and / or restore and manage, through various types

of solutions, at least 30% of marine areas, of which 10% through rigorous measures of

protection.

The 30 % protection of the EU sea surface will help to reduce

substantial loss of biodiversity, will increase the consistency of fish stocks, will contribute

to climate change mitigation and resilience and will generate significant

financial and social benefits. In this perspective, the MiTE together with ISPRA have the responsibility

the implementation of one of the projects of the Recovery Plan, the “Line of intervention

2.4.1 Marine Ecosystem Restoration ”approved by the European Commission, correspondent

investment 3.5 - Restoration and protection of the seabed and marine habitats of the PNRR

- National Recovery and Resilience Plan approved by the Italian Parliament.

The aim of the conference is to present the main objectives and actions of the

Line of intervention "Marine Ecosystem Restoration" and discuss through a table

round with various stakeholders the possible repercussions in the respective sectors of interest. There

Round table discussion will focus on the following topics:

The MER Project will offer the national and international community new and innovative ones

integrated observation systems of marine and marine-coastal environments (oceanographic vessels,

offshore buoys): priorities and opportunities for use.

Ecological restoration measures: opportunities for the blue economy.

The main objective of the drone is to acquire, through non-invasive sampling methods, a large amount of data and to monitor marine habitats thanks to the presence of different sensors that allow the characterization of the marine environment from a geophysical and biological. All the data collected will be shared in an open platform with the aim of improving the knowledge of the seabed and the abundance indices of the population of the different fish species so as to be able to implement specific management plans for the protection and conservation of the biodiversity of the sea. 1. EMILIA-ROMAGNA, water and salt - A journey to discover the products and traditions of

our sea

Science in the kitchen and the art of eating well, as a family, every day: everyone is crazy about

blue fish from small artisanal fishing, "poor fish" that is good for you and tastes like the Riviera.

The 130 km. of Emilia-Romagna coasts are divided into two maritime compartments:

Ravenna and Rimini. Small coastal fishing has always been practiced in fishing ports, the

whose product represents an important share in the total of our Region. A

hard job and very tied to the marine and coastal environment, which has seen the birth since

since the end of 1800 an important cooperative movement, which plays a decisive role

also in the development of the sector. A seafaring culture which, when compared to that

peasant, has left less evident traces. There are countless fish species

they fish by hand. Projects and ideas to innovate in the transformation supply chain

of the fish product of artisanal fishing and enhance it in distribution, for example

in school canteens. Interactive moment, questions from the audience in attendance

Italy is the leading producer of trout and clams in Europe and the consumption of

aquaculture products in our country has already exceeded the 50% although the most

part is import. Because? the Italian origin is enough to say that a fish product

national is of higher quality? We certainly need to increase and improve information

relating to our fish production but also the perception that consumers

they have farmed fish products. Furthermore, what they are will be increasingly delineated

the parameters that truly represent the concrete, verifiable and measurable quality of

products in order to offer greater transparency in communication and information

The world of fishing is a well-known sector, also for its specific connotation

Being currently devoid of any protection and guarantee, the National Observatory of

Pesca is working to ensure legal recognition for these workers.

A step aimed at promoting the leadership of women in the fishing sector, too

through training projects and the promotion of female self-employment. "

Journey between tradition and innovation: advantages and potential of aquaculture

the importance of labeling for the quality of the shellfish product.

Interactive moment, questions from the audience in the presence of the regional ichthyologist. Thing

it means doing shellfish farming in Emilia-Romagna today: in search of sustainability

economic, environmental and social. Mariculture in Emilia-Romagna means two activities:

the breeding, on the lagoon seabed, of the true clam and the breeding, in suspension,

in the sea of mussels, or mussel farming. In particular growth is the commercial interest and

  1. ROUND TABLE “Experiential tourism: fish supply chain and development strategies of

sustainable tourism

The Emilia-Romagna Region, with its 120 km of coastline on the Adriatic Sea, is one of the

regions with stronger and more ancient fishing traditions and its seafaring has always been

a point of reference and innovation for sea fishing in Italy and for clam farming

and shellfish farming in Europe. 9 are the port infrastructures that characterize

the coastal municipalities. Given the historicity of the fishing industry in the coastal municipalities of the region, i

ports are inserted and integrated into the urban and historical fabric and represent a component

of strong tourist attraction. In the summer of 2021 it is estimated that there were over 4.5 million

arrivals with 23 million admissions; if we associate these numbers with the fishing sector e

the importance of the sector for the sector emerges in a significant way

tourism, made up of an increasingly attentive and demanding public looking for new ones

experiential activities. The round table tends to explore the various forms of tourism
